Hello,
Just started using it. DD solves the major reason I didn't use SketchUp. I've been in the MCAD industry for twenty years and have used Pro/E to Solidworks and many others. So, parametric feature based modeling is what I know. Looks like your list of objectives is very good and I'd like to add one more. If you look at Autodesk Inventor, it has the ablility of copying the dimensional variable from one dimension to another by simply clicking on it. For example, we have a box and its length is dim A = 2. When you go to dimension its width, dim B, you start the dimension command and instead of typing in a value, you simply click on dim A and now, dim B is driven by dim A. What's more is one could also us simple math operators such as / for division to say that dim B will be 1/2 the value of dim A. It can same some time with setting up relations to other dimensions. Cheers, Steve |

Hello Steve,
Thank you for this interesting suggestion! We'll definitely consider it. -------------------- Sincerely yours,

Hello Dmitry,
We would require equations eg: A=B/2+3*C and conditionals eg: A=If(B/2+3*C>D; B/2+3*C; D) |

Hi Dmitry:
Just installed Your plug-in, played with it for a moment... Well.. so far so good, but I must to admit that without equations and dimensional variable functionality - it's still a toy, not an instrument. In real life I need badly to be able establish relations between specific dimensions. I saw a list of functions You're about to implement in next edition. Looks good, but still - I'd suggest to consider once more an idea to implement relations and variables, to give a chance to work on REAL parametric base ;-) |
