I run Snowleopard on an imac and the free sketchup version 7. After downloading and installing the package i can't find the new toolbar inside Sketchup. Is there something I am missing?
Dmitry Ushakov
Thank you for reporting this problem. What version of iMac do you use? Hope it is Intel-based?

After downloading and unpacking .dmg-file, you should run ldd_sketchup7_v11.mpkg file to run the installer for SketchUp 7 plugin. It copies plugin's files (ldd.rbs and ldd/ directory) into
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins/ directory. Check please that the files are there (along with other plugins for SketchUp).
Also, could you specify the exact version of SketchUp application (available in SketchUp->About SketchUp menu)?

Well, everything seems to be there. I see a bunch of ldd files and I can see the ldd.rbs as well. (there is no ldd directory though) I can also see png files for icons there dr-di-tool.png and such.
The Sketchup version I have is SketchUp 7 (7.0.8656).

Hm... The files should be located exactly in this order under /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp\ 7/SketchUp/plugins/ directory:

ldd.rbs - the main plugin file
ldd/ - subdirectory with additional files:
Dr_di_fixation.png
Dr_di_fixation_tool_cursor.png
Dr_di_help.png
Dr_di_hide_show.png
Dr_di_options.png
Dr_di_recalculate.png
Dr_di_recalculate_constraints.png
Dr_di_tool.png
Dr_di_tool_cursor.png
Dr_di_tool_recalculation_cursor.png
ldd_class.rbs
ldd_common_functions.rbs
ldd_constraints.rbs
ldd_differences.rbs
ldd_fixation_tool.rbs
ldd_options.rbs
ldd_sketchup_classes.rbs
ldd_tool.rbs
ldd_version.rbs
lddskp.bundle (link to lddskp.plugin/Contents/MacOS/lddskp)
lddskp.plugin/
lddskp_gui.bundle (link to lddskp_gui.plugin/Contents/MacOS/lddskp_gui)
lddskp_gui.plugin/

Please check all the files and put them to ldd/ subfolder if not there (except ldd.rbs).

I created the subfolder inside the plugin folder and put the files in as you described, now it works.
Somehow the subfolder was not generated upon installation although I re-installed ldd a couple times.

FWIW, I too have been having problems with installation of certain plugins with a Mac (I didn't have any problems with installation with DD though). I think this is something that Google need to take a look at, or a plugin installer script could be written in Automator or something? If I had the time! hmm....

I think this is where much of the confusion also lies, because there are actually TWO Library/Application Support folders, one for root and the other for user.

I had this exact same problem, a missing ldd/ subfolder in the Sketchup plugins folder. Fixed it by copying the files over from the install package.

To anyone who encounters this: you can find the ldd/ folder contents by going to the installer package, and right click -> Show Package Contents. Then navigate to Contents -> Packages, and again right click -> Show Package Contents on the ldd-1.pkg file. Click Contents again and you'll see a file called Archive.pax.gz. Double click that to extract it (should go into a new folder called Archive/ in the same folder that the .dmg file is in), and those are the missing files that need to be copied into the plugins directory referenced above.

For the developers -- I am running OS X 10.6.2 on a 2GHz Core 2 Duo (white macbook). I just downloaded Sketchup yesterday, and its version is SketchUp 7 (7.1.6859).

By the way, this is exactly what I was looking for to make Sketchup more useful. I'm used to Autodesk Inventor, and losing the ability to have parametric driven dimensions made Sketchup very frustrating to me.

Thank you, Art Vandelay, for your suggestions to Snow Leopard users. We are working on fixing our automatic installation module to overcome this problem.

I've just put a quote from your post to our testimonials page (if you don't mind), thank you for this feedback!
