What do we plan for the next releases of Driving Dimensions for Google SketchUp?
Here are our ideas:
  • grouped objects
  • binary driving dimensions (distances and angles)
  • geometric constraints (parallelism, perpendicularity, coincidence, tangency, etc.)
  • feature recognition (cylindrical faces and other shapes created by pulling a 2D profile)
  • constraint recognition (e.g. parallelism and perpendicularity of faces)
  • automatic constraint creation at design time (using inference information)
  • dynamic evaluation (when moving a vertex, an edge, a face or a group)

What is more important for you?
Please share your opinion with us!
Don't hesitate to propose new ideas!

Hi Dimitry smile.gif

I just found this/ your plug-in, and it has blown my head clean off (as Clint Eastwood would have said!)

However one thing- please, considering SketchUp works on Mac too, can I, and on behalf of other Mac users, ask for a Mac OSX version also?

That would really make my day (I'd happily pay you too!)

warmest regards,

Tom

Moderators?!

Is there anyone actually on this forum?? I've had a few plays with the Driving Dimensions plug-in. It looks very cool so far. smile.gif

Hello Tom,

Thank you for the interest to our solution!

Sorry for the delay with answering you - all Russian offices were closed for Christmas holidays last week.

Let me ensure you that we have received several requests from Mac users, and now we are considering the possibility to port our plugin to this platform. It is not so trivial, since the Driving Dimensions plugin is based on the LGS 3D geometric solver software component that currently does not run on Mac. However, we have recently ported it to 64-bit Windows, and Mac OS X is the next target platform for LGS 3D. Please visit our web site later this year to find the information about the availability of both LGS 3D and Driving Dimensions for Mac OS X.

dear driving dimensions,

i've looked over your list of future features and i'm more than impressed. i've been waiting a long time for SU to be able to work this way and have high hopes for this plugin.

i do feel however that the most important next feature you can add before you tackle your list, is FIXED POINTS or an option with fixed edges to fix both ends .fixed edges are great but just don't work in many situations like the example provided. i would like to be able to change radius (big ones) on both sides and have it work the same.

sorry, i found that it is possible. my mistake, this is great! sorry to take up your time. carry on wink.gif

Hello Dimitri,

I would like to have the dimensions linked to cells in a spreadsheet
The model has to chance with the (calculated) values of the cells and visa-versa.

Greetings,

Bep van Malde
